These Sony MDR-NC40 Headphones can reduce noise by 90% while the 30 mm driver units deliver powerful sound. Whether you're at work, commuting, or just trying to catch a couple z's these noise canceling headphones do a great job of tuning out environmental noise. A microphone is built in to each earpiece that works with an electronic circuitry to create an opposite sound wave to reduce outside waves. The noise canceling circuit reduces surrounding sound by synthesizing with a sound in an opposite phase making it ideal for loud, noisy environments.

All that the noise canceling circuit requires to operate is one AAA battery (not included). What's really great about these headphones is that they can be used as regular headphones without using the noise canceling circuit if you decide, which means you won't need a AAA battery.
